JOB DESCRIPTIONPOST: FUNDRAISER
The Leonard Cheshire international programmes started 50 years ago, to help establish new Cheshire Services in different countries, and to provide training to service staff. The International Department has six regional offices and works with over 250 partners in 55 countries. It aims to change attitudes to disability and to serve disabled people around the world, creating opportunities with disabled people. It promotes
• disabled children’s right to a meaningful education;
• economic empowerment for people with disabilities;
• innovative community based care and support for people with disabilities; and
• training and research in post-conflict and post-disaster countries.
I. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBThe post holder will be responsible for regional fundraising strategies, fundraising, training and capacity building in fundraising and for developing external links with key donors.
2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION • Responsible to the Regional Programme Manager ?C East Asia & Pacific.
• Liaising with Resource Development Manager in London
3. MAIN DUTIESThe post holder’s main duties are:
• Developing, implementing and monitoring a fundraising strategy for the region
• Development of project proposals in appropriate formats for submission to donors / corporate for funding
• Preparation of progress reports for submission to donors
• Facilitation of developing proposals with other partners
• Identifying funding opportunities and developing concepts and relationships with key donor and corporate sponsors
• Training and supporting National / Regional Councils and staff in regional office in fundraising techniques
• Liaison & coordination with Central office for fundraising related issues
• Other relevant duties, as directed by the Regional Programme Manager
4. PERSON SPECIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS
• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
EXPERIENCE• Experience in institutional fundraising or grant management in a development context
• Experience of training and of building the capacity of local partners in fundraising
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge and understanding of key issues in disability and development
• Excellent writing skills
• Ability to develop project proposals for submission to donors
• Ability to write concise and accurate progress reports for donors
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES• Excellent communication skills
• Able to maintain strong working relationships with key donors
OTHERThe post will be based in Bangkok, Thailand, and available to travel within the East Asian & Pacific Region. In addition some travel may be required to the UK/Europe for meetings with UK based staff.
